Bespoke Timber Windows - What to Look Out For
There are many window / door companies out there to choose from, however increasingly so, it can get a bit overwhelming for homeowners to choose the right contractor, when specific style needs to be preserved, especially when budget is stretched. Here are some important points to look out for / take into consideration when choosing the right team to do the job:
Make sure your window / door replacements will be guaranteed and certified (CERTASS or FENSA) as well as insurance back guaranteed!
Will the windows be made according to building regulations / conservation / like for like in style.
Do speak to previous customers and do see the completed installations where possible. It is not same as seeing windows sitting in the workshop or shop shelf, as is on the completed installation!
Do check quality of the timber, design and preparation process it goes through prior to the installation - especially if important to replicate the original slim profile style – which is very important in conservation areas!
Beware of the imported windows and doors, made out of proportions, not matching the original style of traditional windows and doors and using cheap / low grade timber.
When taking cost into consideration, do think long term, as immediate saving may cost more further down the line. Choosing the cheapest may not always work out 'cheaper' in the long run.
